DOWRY IN INDIA













DEFINATION OF DOWRY - Dowry or dahej is the payment in cash or any other kind by bride's family to the bridegroom family along with giving the bride (called kanyadaan) in indian marriage. Kanyadaan is an important part of Hindu martiul rites. In simple words,' kanya ' means daughter and 'daan' means gifts.........
Dowry is originated in upper caste families as the wedding gifts to the bride from her family.dowry was later given to help the marriage expenses and became a form of insurance in case her in-laws mistreated her. The groom often demands consisting of large sum of money., farm animals., furnitures , electronics etc. The practice of dowry abuse is rising in India. most servere in "bride burning" the burning of women whose dowries were not consider sufficient by their husbands and in-laws. It is evident that their exist deep rooted prejudices against women in India....The extraction of DOWRY from bride'family prior to marriage still occurs..... for dowry bride always abused, harassed and made miserable.... the number of dowry murders are increasing rapidly.,.,
now its high time to raise our voice against dowry.......so that we could save many inocent womens life,.,,. their should be strict law should be built for the betterment............!!!!!!!
